Introduction :Look up
For many Calvary still remains a mystery. Like many within the hyper faith camp its foolishness,
a place of failure. If you where to travel to Golgotha (place of the skull) what will you find?
Rugged outcrop and below an Arab bus station.
For the Christian Golgotha is central to everything we believe.
1. The Old Testament pointed to the fulfilment of Calvary.
2. The New Testament points back to the historical fulfilment of Calvary.
Calvary then becomes the link that joins them both together.
In the Old we are given shadows and types of the one who is to come and in the New we can look back and
see the fulfilment of the prophecies and promises.
We stand or we fall depends upon the central character of Jesus. His cross, his sacrifice, his
death, and resurrection. Golgotha today might be just and ordinary outcrop but there upon that
place was crucified an extraordinary man, who did an extraordinary thing. People may arrive by
Bus and go by bus but how many will look up and see what really took place. Empty space,
empty cross, too busy to stop and ponder, what blood were shed here, innocent blood, and sinless
blood. No time must catch my bus, my connection. If I be lifted up Jesus Said I will draw all ..to
ME.

Tell me the old old story
You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.
--Amy Carmichael (1867-1951), missionary to India

heartaches, injustice, treachery, slander, and scores of other difficult situations.

We believe that the history of the world is but the history of His influence and that the centre of the
whole universe is the cross of Calvary."
He had no rights
Poem by Mabell Williamson
No rights to a soft bed, well laid table, no right to a home of his own, a place to call his
own, a place were his own pleasure might be sought.
No rights to choose pleasant, congenial companions, those who would understand him
and sympathise with him.
No rights to shrink from filth, to pull his garments closer around him and turn aside to
walk a cleaner path.
No rights to be understood and appreciated: no not by those upon whom he had poured
out a double portion of his love.
No right even, never to be forsaken by his father, by the one who meant more than all to
him.
His only right was silently to endure the shame, spitting blows: to take his place as a
sinner at the dock: to bear my sin in anguish on the cross.
He had no rights and I a right to the comforts of life? No, but a right to the love of God
for my pillow.
A right to physical safety, NO But a right to the security of being in his will.
A right to love and sympathy from those around us No, but a right to the friendship of the
one who understands me better than I do myself.
A right to be a leader among men NO, but the right to be led by the one to whom I have
given my all, led as a little child, with its hand in the hand of its father.
A right to a home, dear ones, No not necessary, but a right to dwell in the heart of God.
That he gives I will take, he is my only right, he is the one right before which all others
fade into nothingness.
I have full rights to him, Oh may he have full rights to me.
Words by ordinary people whose lives have been touched by an extraordinary
saviour.
IF
If I have not compassion on my fellowservant, even as my Lord had pity on me,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I belittle those whom I am called to serve, talk of their weak points in contrast perhaps with
what I think of as my strong points;
4
If I adopt a superior attitude, forgetting "Who made thee to differ? and what hast thou that thou
hast not received?"
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I can easily discuss the shortcomings and the sins of any;
If I can speak in a casual way even of a child's misdoings,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I find myself half-carelessly taking lapses for granted.
"Oh, that's what they always do."
"Oh, of course she talks like that,
he acts like that,"
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I can enjoy a joke at the expense of another;
If I can in any way slight another in conversation, or even in thought,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I can write an unkind letter, speak an unkind word, think an unkind thought without grief and
shame,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I do not feel far more for the grieved Savior than for my worried self when troublesome things
occur.
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I know little of His pitifulness (the Lord turned and looked upon Peter),
if I know little of His courage of hopefulness for the truly humble and penitent (He saith unto
him, "Feed My lambs"),
than I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I deal with wrong for any other reason than that implied in the words, "From His right hand
went a fiery law for them. Yea, He loved the people";
if I can rebuke without a pang,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If in dealing with one who does not respond,
I weary of the strain,
and slip from under the burden,
then I know nothing of Calvary love.
If I cannot bear to be like the father who did not soften the rigors of the far country;
if, in this sense, I refuse to allow the law of God (the way of transgressors is hard) to take effect,
because of the distress it causes me to see that law in operation.
then I know nothing of Calvary love.

what we don't deserve. - Merlin Mitchell
The Passover lamb
When Adam and Eve sinned God made for them clothes to hide their nakedness. We are left with
the impression that an animal had been sacrificed in order to clothe them. In time we see Cain
and Able offering sacrifices in which Able offers a blood sacrifice to God while Cain offers a
bloodless sacrifice. Ables sacrifice was accepted and we see here the beginning of the red thread
that weaves its way through the Old Testbbbament and culminating into the New.
One lamb for one person in Genesis, by the time we reach Exodus and onward it becomes one
lamb for the sin of the nation. Finally in the New we are to see one lamb was sacrificed for the
world.
5
God will provide himself a lamb.
God told Abraham to take Isaac and sacrifice him upon an altar. Abraham obeyed but before
Abraham could slay Isaac God intervened. There in the thicket was a ram (male sheep). It
became the substitute. God has thus established the beginnings of the substitutional sacrifice for
sins. God was pointing forward to another time and another sacrifice. There upon Judgement
alter we would have been slained and condemned. But Jesus took my place and died there for
me.
Passover lamb
There came a time when Israel was held in captivity in Egypt. Pharaoh refused to let Gods
people Go.
God sent Moses to deliver the captives. The main part for us at this moment was when God sent
the angel of death to strike the first born through out the land. His commandment to his people to
save them and their firstborn from this tragedy was to place upon the lintel of their front door the
blood of a sacrificed animal. This was later to be called the Passover. When the angel of death
would see the blood and Passover. Jesus is our Passover lamb

A Physician Testifies about the Crucifixion
by Dr. C. Truman Davis
It seemed to me that as a physician I might pursue the physiological and
anatomical aspects of our Lord's passionate some detail. What did the
body of Jesus of Nazareth actually endure during those hours of torture?
This led me first to a study of the practice of crucifixion itself; that is,
torture and execution by fixation to a cross. I am indebted to many who
have studied this subject in the past, and especially to a contemporary
colleague, Dr. Pierre Barbet, a French surgeon who has done exhaustive
historical and experimental research and has written extensively on the
subject.
Apparently, the first known practice of crucifixion was by the Persians. Alexander and his
generals brought it back to the Mediterranean world -- to Egypt and to Carthage. The Romans
apparently learned the practice from the Carthaginians and (as with almost everything the
Romans did) rapidly developed a very high degree of efficiency and skill at it. A number of
Roman authors (Livy, Cicer, Tacitus) comment on crucifixion, and several innovations,
modifications, and variations are described in the ancient literature.
For instance, the upright portion of the cross (or stipes) could have the cross-arm (or patibulum)
attached two or three feet below its top in what we commonly think of as the Latin cross. The
most common form used in our Lord's day, however, was the Tau cross, shaped like our T. In this
cross the patibulum was placed in a notch at the top of the stipes. There is archeological evidence
that it was on this type of cross that Jesus was crucified.
Without any historical or biblical proof, Medieval and Renaissance painters have given us our
picture of Christ carrying the entire cross. But the upright post, or stipes, was generally fixed
permanently in the ground at the site of execution and the condemned man was forced to carry
the patibulum, weighing about 110 pounds, from the prison to the place of execution
Many of the painters and most of the sculptors of crucifixion, also show the nails through the palms.
Historical Roman accounts and experimental work have established that the nails were driven
between the small bones of the wrists (radial and ulna) and not through the palms. Nails driven
through the palms will strip out between the fingers when made to support the weight of the
human body. The misconception may have come about through a misunderstanding of Jesus'
words to Thomas, "Observe my hands." Anatomists, both modern and ancient, have always
considered the wrist as part of the hand.
A titulus, or small sign, stating the victim's crime was usually placed on a staff, carried at the
front of the procession from the prison, and later nailed to the cross so that it extended above the
head. This sign with its staff nailed to the top of the cross would have given it somewhat the
characteristic form of the Latin cross.
But, of course, the physical passion of the Christ began in Gethsemane. Of the many aspects of
this initial suffering, the one of greatest physiological interest is the bloody sweat. It is interesting
that St. Luke, the physician, is the only one to mention this. He says, "And being in Agony, He
prayed the longer. And His sweat became as drops of blood, trickling down upon the ground."
Every ruse (trick) imaginable has been used by modern scholars to explain away this description,
apparently under the mistaken impression that this just doesn't happen. A great deal of effort
could have been saved had the doubters consulted the medical literature. Though very rare, the
8
phenomenon of Hematidrosis, or bloody sweat, is well documented. Under great emotional stress
of the kind our Lord suffered, tiny capillaries in the sweat glands can break, thus mixing blood
with sweat. This process might well have produced marked weakness and possible shock.
After the arrest in the middle of the night, Jesus was next brought before the Sanhedrin and
Caiphus, the High Priest; it is here that the first physical trauma was inflicted. A soldier struck
Jesus across the face for remaining silent when questioned by Caiphus. The palace guards then
blind-folded Him and mockingly taunted Him to identify them as they each passed by, spat upon
Him, and struck Him in the face.
In the early morning, battered and bruised, dehydrated, and exhausted from a sleepless night,
Jesus is taken across the Praetorium of the Fortress Antonia, the seat of government of the
Procurator of Judea, Pontius Pilate. You are, of course, familiar with Pilate's action in attempting
to pass responsibility to Herod Antipas, the Tetrarch of Judea. Jesus apparently suffered no
physical mistreatment at the hands of Herod and was returned to Pilate. It was in response to the
cries of the mob, that Pilate ordered Bar-Abbas released and condemned Jesus to scourging and
crucifixion.
There is much disagreement among authorities about the unusual scourging as a prelude to
crucifixion. Most Roman writers from this period do not associate the two. Many scholars believe
that Pilate originally ordered Jesus scourged as his full punishment and that the death sentence by
crucifixion came only in response to the taunt by the mob that the Procurator was not properly
defending Caesar against this pretender who allegedly claimed to be the King of the Jews.
Preparations for the scourging were carried out when the Prisoner was stripped of His clothing
and His hands tied to a post above His head. It is doubtful the Romans would have made any
attempt to follow the Jewish law in this matter, but the Jews had an ancient law prohibiting more
than forty lashes.
The Roman legionnaire steps forward with the flagrum (or flagellum) in his hand. This is a short
whip consisting of several heavy, leather thongs with two small balls of lead attached near the
ends of each. The heavy whip is brought down with full force again and again across Jesus'
shoulders, back, and legs. At first the thongs cut through the skin only. Then, as the blows
continue, they cut deeper into the subcutaneous tissues, producing first an oozing of blood from
the capillaries and veins of the skin, and finally spurting arterial bleeding from vessels in the
underlying muscles.
The small balls of lead first produce large, deep bruises which are broken open by subsequent
blows. Finally the skin of the back is hanging in long ribbons and the entire area is an
9
unrecognizable mass of torn, bleeding tissue. When it is determined by the centurion in charge
that the prisoner is near death, the beating is finally stopped.
The half-fainting Jesus is then untied and allowed to slump to the stone pavement, wet with His
own blood. The Roman soldiers see a great joke in this provincial Jew claiming to be king. They
throw a robe across His shoulders and place a stick in His hand for a scepter. They still need a
crown to make their travesty complete. Flexible branches covered with long thorns (commonly
used in bundles for firewood) are plaited into the shape of a crown and this is pressed into His
scalp. Again there is copious bleeding, the scalp being one of the most vascular areas of the body.
After mocking Him and striking Him across the face, the soldiers take the stick from His hand
and strike Him across the head, driving the thorns deeper into His scalp. Finally, they tire of their
sadistic sport and the robe is torn from His back. Already having adhered to the clots of blood and
serum in the wounds, its removal causes excruciating pain just as in the careless removal of a
surgical bandage, and almost as though He were again being whipped the wounds once more
begin to bleed.
In deference to Jewish custom, the Romans return His garments. The heavy patibulum of the
cross is tied across His shoulders, and the procession of the condemned Christ, two thieves, and
the execution detail of Roman soldiers headed by a centurion begins its slow journey along the
Via Dolorosa. In spite of His efforts to walk erect, the weight of the heavy wooden beam,
together with the shock produced by copious blood loss, is too much. He stumbles and falls. The
rough wood of the beam gouges into the lacerated skin and muscles of the shoulders. He tries to
rise, but human muscles have been pushed beyond their endurance.
The centurion, anxious to get on with the crucifixion, selects a stalwart North African onlooker,
Simon of Cyrene, to carry the cross. Jesus follows, still bleeding and sweating the cold, clammy
sweat of shock, until the 650 yard journey from the fortress Antonia to Golgotha is finally
completed.
Jesus is offered wine mixed with myrrh, a mild analgesic mixture. He refuses to drink. Simon is
ordered to place the patibulum on the ground and Jesus quickly thrown backward with His
shoulders against the wood. The legionnaire feels for the depression at the front of the wrist. He
drives a heavy, square, wrought-iron nail through the wrist and deep into the wood. Quickly, he
moves to the other side and repeats the action being careful not to pull the arms to tightly, but to
allow some flexion and movement. The patibulum is then lifted in place at the top of the stipes
and the titulus reading "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" is nailed in place.
The left foot is now pressed backward against the right foot, and with both feet extended, toes
down, a nail is driven through the arch of each, leaving the knees moderately flexed. The Victim
is now crucified. As He slowly sags down with more weight on the nails in the wrists
excruciating pain shoots along the fingers and up the arms to explode in the brain -- the nails in
the writs are putting pressure on the median nerves. As He pushes Himself upward to avoid this
stretching torment, He places His full weight on the nail through His feet. Again there is the
searing agony of the nail tearing through the nerves between the metatarsal bones of the feet.
1
At this point, as the arms fatigue, great waves of cramps sweep over the muscles, knotting them
in deep, relentless, throbbing pain. With these cramps comes the inability to push Himself
upward. Hanging by his arms, the pectoral muscles are paralyzed and the intercostal muscles are
unable to act. Air can be drawn into the lungs, but cannot be exhaled. Jesus fights to raise Himself
in order to get even one short breath. Finally, carbon dioxide builds up in the lungs and in the
blood stream and the cramps partially subside. Spasmodically, he is able to push Himself upward
to exhale and bring in the life-giving oxygen. It was undoubtedly during these periods that He
uttered the seven short sentences recorded:
The first, looking down at the Roman soldiers throwing dice for His seamless garment, "Father,
forgive them for they know not what they do."
The second, to the penitent thief, "Today thou shalt be with me in Paradise."
The third, looking down at the terrified, grief-stricken adolescent John -- the beloved Apostle --
he said, "Behold thy mother." Then, looking to His mother Mary, "Woman behold thy son."
The fourth cry is from the beginning of the 22nd Psalm, "My God, my God, why has thou
forsaken me?"
Hours of limitless pain, cycles of twisting, joint-rending cramps, intermittent partial asphyxiation,
searing pain where tissue is torn from His lacerated back as He moves up and down against the
rough timber. Then another agony begins...A terrible crushing pain deep in the chest as the
pericardium slowly fills with serum and begins to compress the heart.
One remembers again the 22nd Psalm, the 14th verse: "I am poured out like water, and all my
bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels."
It is now almost over. The loss of tissue fluids has reached a critical level; the compressed heart is
struggling to pump heavy, thick, sluggish blood into the tissue; the tortured lungs are making a
frantic effort to gasp in small gulps of air. The markedly dehydrated tissues send their flood of
stimuli to the brain.
Jesus gasps His fifth cry, "I thirst."
One remembers another verse from the prophetic 22nd Psalm: "My strength is dried up like a
potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou has brought me into the dust of death."
A sponge soaked in posca, the cheap, sour wine which is the staple drink of the Roman
legionaries, is lifted to His lips. He apparently doesn't take any of the liquid. The body of Jesus is
now in extremes, and He can feel the chill of death creeping through His tissues. This realisation
brings out His sixth words, possibly little more than a tortured whisper, "It is finished."
His mission of atonement has completed. Finally He can allow his body to die.
With one last surge of strength, he once again presses His torn feet against the nail, straightens
His legs, takes a deeper breath, and utters His seventh and last cry, "Father! Into thy hands I
commit my spirit."
The rest you know. In order that the Sabbath not be profaned, the Jews asked that the condemned
men be dispatched and removed from the crosses. The common method of ending a crucifixion
was by crurifracture, the breaking of the bones of the legs. This prevented the victim from
pushing himself upward; thus the tension could not be relieved from the muscles of the chest and
rapid suffocation occurred. The legs of the two thieves were broken, but when the soldiers came
to Jesus they saw that this was unnecessary.
Apparently to make doubly sure of death, the legionnaire drove his lance through the fifth
interspace between the ribs, upward through the pericardium and into the heart. The 34th verse of
the 19th chapter of the Gospel according to St. John reports: "And immediately there came out
blood and water." That is, there was an escape of water fluid from the sac surrounding the heart,
giving postmortem evidence that Our Lord died not the usual crucifixion death by suffocation,
but of heart failure (a broken heart) due to shock and constriction of the heart by fluid in the
pericardium.

Thus we have had our glimpse -- including the medical evidence -- of that epitome of evil which
man has exhibited toward Man and toward God. It has been a terrible sight, and more than
enough to leave us despondent and depressed. How grateful we can be that we have the great
sequel in the infinite mercy of God toward man -- at once the miracle of the atonement (at one
ment) and the expectation of the triumphant Easter morning.

Today the cross stands empty. He has risen and is now our great high priest.
Sadly there are many today that simply cannot sing the great hymns of redemption
They have no concept of a Jesus who bore our sins upon Calvary and won salvation
for us. It’s foreign to them. It is a language they cannot understand, nor even
desire to learn. There is a song that only the redeemed can sing because only they
know its tune, Only they have learned the words
When I survey that wondrous cross on which the prince of glory died
My richest gain I count but loss and pour contempt upon all my pride.
Oh the wonderful cross ,Oh the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
Oh the wonderful cross ,Oh the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless your name
One day we will all be gathered together in Christ, the redeemed of the Lord
On that day we will all be able to sing that song, which even angels cannot sing?
A song so dear, so sweet. Our crowns we will lay before his feet. He is Christ
Jesus who is Lord over all.

The theology of hyper faith
Below is a brief summary of what the hyper faith teachers believe on this subject. Having heard
one person teach it will probably mean that you will have heard them all. Very few will stray
from the set verses and set phraseology. Many will teach it exactly word for word even down to
emphasising certain points exactly the same way and words exactly at the same time. It has even
been joked that many have copied Kenneth Hagin sermons exactly including the same sermon
title. It is therefore pointless quoting other hyper faith teachers other than to show which
evangelist and teachers also hold to this doctrine. Our mission is to refute the belief as expressed
by Kenneth Copeland and other.
Kenneth Copeland
Jesus supposedly "put Himself into the hands of Satan when He went to that cross, and
took that same nature that Adam did [when he sinned]." (Kenneth Copeland, The
Incarnation (Fort Worth: Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1985, audiotape #01-0402), side
1.)
"The day that Jesus was crucified, God's life, that eternal energy that was His from
birth, moved out of Him and He accepted the very nature of death itself." (Kenneth
Copeland, "The Price of It All," Believer's Voice of Victory, September 1991, 3.)
Jesus is said to have remarked, "It was a sign of Satan that was hanging on the cross....I
accepted, in my own spirit, spiritual death; and the light was turned off." (Kenneth
Copeland, What Happened from the Cross to the Throne, side 2.)
Jesus "had to give up His righteousness" (Kenneth Copeland, The Incarnation, side 2.)
Jesus had to "accept the sin nature of Satan." (Kenneth Copeland, What Happened from
the Cross to the Throne, side 2.)
"Satan conquered Jesus on the Cross and took His spirit to the dark regions of hell"
(Kenneth Copeland, Holy Bible: Kenneth Copeland Reference Edition (Kenneth
Copeland, Fort Worth: Kenneth Copeland Ministries, 1991), 129.)
"He [Jesus] allowed the devil to drag Him into the depths of hell....He allowed Himself
to come under Satan's control...every demon in hell came down on Him to annihilate
Him....They tortured Him beyond anything anybody had ever conceived. For three days
He suffered everything there is to suffer." (Kenneth Copeland, "The Price of It All," 3.)
"How did Jesus then on the cross say, ‘My God.’ Because God was not His Father any
more. He took upon Himself the nature of Satan. And I’m telling you Jesus is in the
middle of that pit. He’s suffering all that there is to suffer, there is no suffering left . . .
apart from Him. His emaciated, little wormy spirit is down in the bottom of that thing and
the devil thinks He’s got Him destroyed. But, all of a sudden God started talking."
(Kenneth Copeland, Believer's Voice of Victory (television program), TBN, 21 April
1991.)

Is this what
the Bible
really
teaches?
The triumph of the spirit of Jesus
Luke 23:46-47 “Father into thy hands I commend my Spirit” and having said thus, he
gave up the ghost. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God
saying,” certainly this was a righteous man”
Matthew 27:50 “ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost”
Here are two references about the same point:
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  He commended his spirit to God.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  Yielded up his spirit.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  After so doing he died.
From these two verses we can find out quite a lot about what took place.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  According to Hyper faith teachers Jesus became one with death took the nature of satan and
allowed satan to conquer him on the cross. Took his spirit forcefully into hell to be tortured.
So that when Jesus commended his spirit to the father he was either talking and calling satan
his father or God himself rejected what Jesus was asking?
The question is was
What did
happen to
Jesus
Spirit?
Was
Calvary
a place
of defeat
Jesus spirit forcibly
taken by satan into
hell?
Did Jesus
come
under the
control of
satan?
1
I like to make
people think
so ha ha ha
The evidence from scripture completely refutes the hyper faith teaching.
No where in scripture will you ever find the rhetoric of hyper faith teachers being taught.
Strongs concordance gives us this definition of the word “Commend:
Luke 23:46 “Commend” (Strongs 3908) To place along side ie present (food truth) by
impl to deposit (a sa trust or for protection) allege commend, commit (the keeping of)
So we see that Jesus seeks to use the word “Commend” his spirit into safekeeping. Certainly
committing it into the hands of satan to be tortured would not do justice to this verse. Having
spoken these words he “gives up the ghost” In comparison to other crucifixions his death was
sudden. A crucified man could normally be expected to hang upon a gibbet for days if so
required by those who have crucified him.
Matthew 27:50 Jesus, when he cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost”
In the Strongs concordance the word “yielded” (strongs 863) is Aphlemi
Means to send away, dismiss to yield up, in reference to Matthew 27:50 it is the voluntary
giving up of his spirit”
It would be the same as someone dismissing a servant.
Now what we are being told is that Jesus voluntary gave up and dismissed his spirit. Now NO
mere human can do this. Man does not have the power to dismiss his spirit or even to keep
himself alive. The other two thieves even though one of them repented died according to
crucifixion by having their legs broken. Unable to breathe quickly suffocated and died.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..
No demon possessed man could have the power to dismiss his spirit.
No sinner could dismiss his spirit.
No one under the control of satan could dismiss his spirit.
No saint of God can dismiss his own spirit.
1
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..
There is no evidence in the entire book of the Bible were a person was able to voluntary give
up his life by dismissing his spirit.
Yet we are told Jesus did.
When Stephen was being stoned Acts 3:21 he asked it says, “Calling upon God and saying Lord
Jesus receive my spirit” Here Stephen was offering his spirit, but he could not dismiss it. Jesus
alone had that power. How do we know this? Simply Jesus tells us he has.
John 10:17-18 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life that I might
take it again. NO man taketh it from me, But I lay it down of myself, I have power to lay
it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my
father”
Death did not take Jesus life, satan did not take Jesus life, The spear which pierced Jesus side did
not take Jesus life.....Jesus voluntary laid that life down.
Jesus alone had the power to control his own life and what he did with it. So the whole idea of “
that eternal energy moving out of him” is utter rubbish. He laid it down as one would take of a
coat and lay it down, voluntary.
Who then
received his
spirit ...satan
or God?
Ecc 12:7 “Spirit goes back to God who gave it”
Ecc 3:21 “No man hath power over his own spirit to retain the spirit neither hath the
power in the day of death.....”
James 2:26 “Body without the spirit is dead”
Now according the hyper faith teachers man is a spirit (personality) with a soul (mind) and a
body, however scripture clearly tells us that man has is a soul, (personality) with a spirit and a
body. Adam was made a living soul. We are told in Acts 2:41 that three thousand “souls” were
added to the church, not three thousand “spirits” According to the Bible the real man is a soul.
The spirit is what is given to us from God and it is the spirit that makes us conscious of the spirit
realm. The hyper faith teachers make man into a “spirit” being so that they can teach that man
like God is a spirit and therefore a god. This teaching also leads to another bizarre teaching that
humans as spirit beings have a pre-existence before we were born.
In Matthew 10:28 Jesus warns the people not to fear him that can destroy the Body but the one
who could destroy both body and SOUL in hell. The spirit of man is never mentioned as going to
hell. Satan could therefore never have taken Jesus spirit anywhere.
Its Gods property and his alone.
So scripture makes it clear that Jesus dismissed his spirit to return to God who gave it.
To God his father he deposited his spirit for safe keeping until it was needed in his resurrection.
1
1 Peter 2:23-24 “When he was reviled, reviled not again, when he suffered, he
suffered not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously. Who his
own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree that we being dead to sins
should live righteously, by whose stripes we are healed”
There are number of things we can glean from these two scriptures.
1.
2.
3.
4.
When reviled by the crowd he did not return insults
When he hung in pain he did not wish that pain upon others.
He committed himself to him that judgeth righteously, not satan.
He bore our sins in his BODY not is his SOUL or his SPIRIT. Jesus never ceased to
be the son of God. Never once did the second person of the trinity cease to be a
member of the triune God.
Hyper faith teachers have no understanding or concept of what it means for the sacrificial lamb to
be sacrificed. The lamb had to be pure and without blemish. At no time could that sacrificial
lamb cease to be pure or the sacrifice would be invalid. So Jesus as that pure sacrificial lamb had
to remain pure and sinless throughout. Jesus carried our sins as if they were his own but he did
not become a sinner. He bore our sins as a weight but that does not mean that they changed him.
My God, My God
Copeland says that because Jesus used the words “My God, My God” meant that Jesus was no
longer his father. The simple reality was that he could still call upon his father as “MY God MY
GOD” Not his God or your God, but MY God.
The mere fact that God the father could turn his back upon the son in this brief time does not
mean that God had ceased to be Jesus Father.
A demon nature man would still not call upon God but Jesus did. We might no fully understand
all that Jesus went through. But anyone who could commit himself to the one who Judge
righteously was not about to commit himself to some mere fallen angel. Throughout the entire
episode we are not given the impression of someone that had lost control or was under the control
of another. It stands written “MY GOD” despite the darkness, despite the agonising pain, despite
the nakedness, despite the nails and the hammer, despite the searing thirst, through it all he could
still say... MY GOD. The last words upon his Jesus lips was “Father I commit my spirit into
your safe keeping” What a reassurance, what trust, what dependency. After all that he had
endured he was still in control, and he knew his father would still hear him and be with him.
Characteristics of the demonic possessed.
Bible tells us that satan entered Judas in order to betray Jesus but there is an absence of scripture
about satan entering Jesus! John 13:27 betrayed Jesus
We are also told about how satan wanted to sift peter but again the absence of fact about Jesus
being conquered by satan is itself a major point Luke 22:31 denied Jesus
There is no evidence that Jesus was led to deny the father or betray his cause? John 14:30
“The prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me”
Nothing means, “NOT ONE THING”. This testimony would be pointless if Jesus was to be
conquered by satan. His life and ministry would be pointless if satan was to become his master

If Satan was in charge then would he have not have tried everything in his power to
1. Possess Jesus with a legion of evil spirits
2. Do everything to destroy Jesus own testimony
3. Have him screaming for mercy and denouncing God. Just like the other two thieves.
4. Would he have not joined in with the other too who were crucified?
5. Would we not have seen another Jesus hanging upon the cross, a spiritual dead Jesus?
6. Jesus entire life would have been a pointless joke if satan was then able to get a hold of Jesus
at the end.
7. Jesus own testimony “I have overcome the world” (John 16:32 )why bother if satan has the
upper hand on calvary
8. “I am not alone, The father is with me” (john 16:32) The reality of hope. Even though the
hyper faith teachers would claim that the Father had totally forsaken Jesus when he cried “My
God” we still have this testimony that Jesus was not totally alone even if he might have felt it
for a moment.

It is finished
John 19:30 we have these solemn words resounding down through the years “It is finished”
The hyper faith teachers would say that “No it was not finished as he still had three more days to
go being tortured in hell” “He was only talking about the Old Testament being finished”
Was it finished or not?
Are we to believe that for three days between the end of the Old Testament (his death)and the
beginning of the New (resurrection)there was no Testament at all, no basis for men to be saved,
and no sacrifice excepted, no mercy seat, no salvation. For three eternal days there was no bases
whereby men may be redeemed. Those who died during that time now lost forever? Was this
what God wanted, planned for?
Are we left with some big cosmic joke that for three days God was insufficient to establish
salvation upon the human race? NOOOO
The phrase “it is finished” in the Greek is actually one word teleo (strongs 5055) and in carries a
weight of meaning to those who lived at that time, But almost lost to us today.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  Merchant: When something was finally paid off they would place a stamp on the bill
declaring that the debt had been paid in full No more to pay
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  Painter: When the painter had completed his painting and the final stroke of the brush had
been placed. He would stand back and declare it finished. He was satisfied that the picture
was complete. Nothing more to add
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  Servant: When all the tasks had been completed which the master of the house had set, the
servant could declare it is finished. The task was finished
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  Priest: When the sacrifice was offered and burned and all was done then the priest could
declare that the sacrifice was finished. Sacrifice was complete and finished
All of the above carries something of what Jesus accomplished. In the Greek the phrase “It is
finished” means “it stands finished” and it will always be finished.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  As a servant of his Father he had finished the work he had come to do
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  As a high priest he offered his own sinless blood and his body as a perfect sacrifice.
CSPBCSSMLNDSMDVRSNSMVSMQLIVB, ] Evolution is Religion ..  As a merchant the debt which he owed was complete and paid in full.

Hebrews 9:14 “how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal spirit offered
himself without spot to God”
Hebrews 10:10” By which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
once for all”
The use of the word “teleo” elsewhere in scripture is interesting and it shows us that when it is
used it describes what is completed, after which there is nothing which can be added to, or extra
given.
John 19:28” After this Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished
(teleo finished fulfilled) that the scripture might be fulfilled saith “I thirst”.
1
Rev 15:1,8 “I saw another sign in the heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having
the seven last plagues for in them is filled up ( teleo nothing more could be added) the
wrath of God”” The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his
power and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven
angels were fulfilled( teleo Completed)”
Rev 17:17. “For God has put in their hearts to fulfill his will and to agree and to give
their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God shall be fulfilled (teleo)
20:3,5,7 Verse 7 “When the thousand years are expired( teleo) satan shall be loosed out
of his prison” When the time was finished no more days would be added
There are numerous other uses where this word is used and all give the clear impression that teleo
was used to give the clear significance that finish meant finished, nothing more could or would be
added. Nothing more was needed.
None of this would be true is Jesus was conquered by satan, partaken of a satanic nature, or even
called satan his father. It must also be pointed out that according to the hyper faith teachers a
person cannot be fully saved without believing in what they teach. The full weight of scripture
centres on Calvary as the place where salvation was won for us not upon those who would
blaspheme and mock our Lord. In reality you cannot be saved unless you believe that Calvary
and the cross is the place were salvation is won.
The force of the testator
Hebrews 9:15-17 the force of the Testator comes into force the moment the Testator dies. (KJ)
What is a “Testator”? The testator is someone who has written a last will and testament. Jesus
last will and testament is the covenant he made with his father of which we are the benefactors.
When Jesus died upon that cross the fountain of grace and salvation was opened. Everyone who
then received him would be saved. John 1:12. The last will and testament of a decease does not
become activated upon a persons resurrection or days after he had died but upon his death.
Why then would these people make hell the place of salvation rather than the cross?
In reality the hyper faith make satan not Jesus the victor of Calvary, and hell the place of torture.
1 Corinthians 1: 18-19,23 “The preaching of the cross is to them who perish foolishness, but
unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written I will destroy the wisdom of
the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent”
“But we preach Christ crucified unto the Jews a stumbling block and unto the Greeks
foolishness”
To those who perish it is foolishness and a stumbling block.
The triumph of the cross
Colossians 2:14-15” Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us which
was contrary to us and took it out of the way nailing it to the cross and having spoiled
principalities and powers he made a show of them openly triumphing over them in it”
This verse applies to the New Testament salvation, not the old and it shows categorically that the
cross was where salvation was won. That which the law demanded under the Old Jesus took it
away and nailed it to HIS CROSS. More than that instead of satan conquering Jesus it was Jesus
who conquered him

“Having Spoiled principalities and powers” “
“Showed them openly”
“Triumphing over them in it”
Nothing was done in some dark corner of hell but openly seen by all upon a hill called Calvary
We were all there, The Jews who rejected him the Romans who crucified him, the people who
mocked him, the women and disciples who loved him, the thieves and the repentant. The rulers
the slaves, the sinners and the priests. All were there. They heard him speak, they heard what
came out of his mouth. They saw how he responded when the nails pierced his hands and feet.
He forgave when other would curse. He thought of others when others only thought of
themselves. Is this the picture of a man defeated by satan. If satan had got a hold of Jesus and
possessed him would satan not try and get Jesus to speak some of the most vilest words spoken
by the demonic. No... This is not the picture we glean from scripture.
Triumph (Strongs 2358) A noisy iambus (song, ballad) sung in honour. To make acclamation
procession ie to conquer or (by Hebr) to give victory cause to triumph (over)
Jesus openly went about spoiling principalities and powers, delivering the demonic, healing the
sick, confronting demons. Delivering captives. We are to somehow believe that at the end satan
suddenly gets the upper hand! Scripture is very precise about the life and especially about the
death of Jesus that we cannot be left without any doubt of the triumph of Jesus victory.
The whole book of Hebrews speaks about the superiority of Christ’s sacrifice over the Levitical
sacrifice. Hell is not the place of triumph. The book of Hebrews presents us with the superiority
of Christ’s blood over that of animal sacrifice.
Hebrews 9: 13 For the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of the heifer sprinkled the
unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh. How much more shall the blood of Christ
who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God to purge your
conscience from dead works”
Hebrews 10:10,19 “By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body
of Christ once for all” “ Having therefore Brethren boldness to enter into the holiest by
the blood of Jesus by a new and living way which he has consecrated for us. Through the
veil, that is to say his flesh”
You will be with me in paradise
Luke 23:43 To the repentant dying thief came the promise:
,
Verily verily I say unto you today will be with me in paradise”
Along with cults like the Jehovah Witnesses the hyper faith people find this verse offensive.
It shows clearly that there existed life after death and that the repentant thief would enjoy being in
paradise that day. The Jehovah witnesses dislike it because it proves life after dead and salvation
for a man that did not work for it. The latter because it has Jesus in paradise when according to
their theology he is supposed to be in hell suffering the onslaught of satan. Well he cannot be in
paradise and in hell at the same time! So both groups use the same method to change the verse.
,
Verily verily I say unto you today will be with me in paradise”
2
So they argue that the comma should be moved. By Americanising the verse they can make Jesus
appears to say, “ I say unto you today”
,
“You will be with me”
The argument used in both cases is the same and it goes like this:
There are no commas in the Greek. Placing comma in sentences by the translators was
for the benefit of English readers. They then infer that the translators of our Bible were
wrong in placing it were it is. They simply claim revelation knowledge and place it
somewhere else. In so doing they then change the full meaning of the verse.
However we are left with no doubt as to how and where Jesus desired to place his break. There
are enough verses where Jesus used that phrase “Verily Verily I say unto you. Jesus takes a
breath before launching out into his sermon. Luke 13:43 is no different. No where are we given
another example where Jesus uses this phrase with the added “today” as part of his pre-sermon.
His promise to the dying thief stands secure “Today you will be with me”
If people have to twist and change scripture it shows the weakness of their own theology
Went unto the spirits in prison
1 Peter 3:19-20” He went and preached unto the spirits in prison which sometimes were
disobedient when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark
was prepared, were in few, that is eight souls were saved by water”
We are not given a great deal of information about this verse other than Jesus went and preached
to “spirits in prison”. Some have alluded to that the spirits were of those who had drowned in the
flood, but this is not satisfactory, as there is no evidence that those souls who had died were
described as “spirits”.
In the book of revelation the dead were referred to as “Souls”, for e.g. Rev.6: 9.
We do know that there were spirits that have been kept in chains reserved for the final judgement.
It is possible that Peter is referring to these creatures. (see 2 Peter 2:4) The word for “preached”
does not give us a great deal of help as it is not used exclusively of the preaching of the gospel
and could be used for any type of preaching including judgement. Jesus may have gone and
preached judgement to those rebellious spirits who had deceived mankind prior to the flood.
Who are now kept under lock and key?
What we can say is that this verse does not give the impression that it was Jesus who was in
prison under the torturous hand of the enemy. Not as someone who was jailed but the jailer. He
was free to come and go while those who were imprisoned were not. It was Jesus who has the
keys to death and Hades not the enemy
I have the keys to death and Hades
Rev 1:18 “I am he that liveth and was dead and behold I am alive for evermore Amen
and have the keys to death and Hades”
2
The hyper faith teachers make a lot about a fictional battle where Jesus wrestles with satan in
order to grasp the twin keys of death and Hades of satan. Apparently after three torturous days
God the father resounds from heaven with the words “It is enough”
Now there has been allot revealed from scripture about this time but there is absolutely no where
other in the minds of hyper faith teachers were these immortal words are recorded from God “it is
enough” The phrase does not exist in scripture. After this the emaciated demon possessed spirit
of Jesus is saved and he turns and wrestles with satan for the keys.
So did satan ever hold the keys of death and hades? Our understanding of this will help us give
understanding to how the imagination of men can run riot.
In Genesis 3:19 God judges Adam for his sin “For dust thou art and unto dust shalt you return”
Matthew 10:28 we are told by Jesus not to fear him who can kill the body but he who can cast
both body and soul into hell. Who was Jesus speaking about? Simply look up the book of
revelation to get that answer.
2 peter 2:4 “Who spared not the angels that sinned but cast them down to hell and delivered them
into chains of darkness to be reserved unto judgement”
Who has the power to pertain to all of these?
If satan had the power he would have used it to empty hell and release all of his fallen angels, he
has not. If he had the power of death then he would go around killing every Christian there is.
He could not even touch one of Jobs hairs until given permission by God, let alone kill him.
God alone has the power to give life and to end life. He has the power to decide where people go
when they die. The accuser of the brethren may accuse but it is not within his power to decide or
to send people to heaven or hell.
In the light of this we must conclude that there was never a wrestling match with Jesus trying to
grasp the keys of death and Hades away from satan. He never had them in the first place.
Vail was rent from top to bottom
One of the pivotal points of Calvary’s darkest hour, was when God rent the Vail of the temple from top to
bottom. It was to signify that access was now open to all. Prior to this only the High priest was allowed to
enter and that once a year to sprinkle the blood of sacrificial lamb upon the Ark of the Covenant.
As long as that Vail remained there then access to God and to his presence was blocked. Man
could not take it down, he did not have the right. But God had the right. Jesus by virtue of
Calvary won the right. It signified that
the old was now gone and the new was
now open to all.
The religious priest’s simple took their
sewing kit out and sewed it up again but
that does not matter. What was done
was done.
False religion tries to sew up that Vail
and block the way. Man tries to hid the
“way “
from others. Hid Gods prescience, stop
the sinner from seeing that salvation is
now theirs. Control what they know and learn. Sorry the Vail has been torn asunder. For the first
time many of the priests would see what was behind those curtains. By Jesus day the actual Ark
of the Covenant had disappeared and all that was left was a large rock.
The Vail also signified the Vail that was across our hearts and minds that stopped us seeing
2
the truth. Now removed we can begin to see the one who would win our hearts, love us and set
us free. Deliver us from the darkness into his marvellous light. Snatched us out from the powers
of darkness and placed us into his heavenly kingdom. The one who has blessed us in heavenly
places in Christ Jesus
Conclusion
2 peter 1:1 – “For there will be false prophets also
among the people even as there shall be false
teachers among you who privately shall bring in
damninable heresies even denying the Lord that
bought them and bring upon themselves swift
destruction. Many shall follow their pernicious
ways, by reason of whom the way of truth shall be
evil spoken of. Through covetousness (greed) shall they with feigned words ( false and
flattering) make merchandise of you whose judgement now for a long time lingereth not
and their damnation slumbereth not”
If these words do not describe the hyper faith lot I do not know what will.
They come with words claiming to be so anointed of God yet what they teach comes out of their
own imagination. Making money from the poor and the sick. This verse does not speak about
unbelievers but those who claim to be believers, False prophets and false teachers within the
ranks of the church. Who come in with their Gnostic babbling, turning believers away from the
truth, denying and mocking the very one they claim to follow.
Calvary was a victory for Jesus, for righteousness, for salvation, the only people it
was not a victory for was for satan and those who hate the cross and what it stands
for. They would claim it a defeat, God claims it a victory. They would despise the
blood that was shed God honours it. They would deny its validity, Jesus stands as
our high priests having offered his blood once and for all and now sits down at the
right hand of God.
